American Cancer Society to Partner with Lyman Orchards for July Fundraiser

The American Cancer Society is proud to announce an expansion to their partnership with Lyman Orchards. Throughout the month of July, Lyman Orchards has committed to donating 10% of the Monday through Friday sales from their deli at the Apple Barrel Market Store and from the 1741 Pub & Grill at Lyman Orchards Golf Club.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Society’s fight against cancer is at risk. This month-long effort will not only help raise much needed funds but remind the community that cancer hasn’t stopped and neither has the American Cancer Society. Connecticut residents are encouraged to visit Lyman Orchards during the week to help contribute to the fight against cancer.

With safety being a top priority for both the Society and Lyman Orchards, socially distant protocols haven implemented at Apple Barrel Market Store with one-way aisles and a single queuing line at the register with clear six-foot markings. Associates and customers are also required to wear masks and follow all CDC guidelines.  The Apple Barrel Market Store and the 1741 Pub & Grill both offer outdoor seating for customers as well.

Lyman Orchards has been an American Cancer Society supporter for over two decades. Every year, they donate $1 from each admission to their popular corn maze. Since 2000, they have donated over $630,000 to help the Society save more lives from cancer.

“We are pleased to partner with the American Cancer Society this month to help raise money for their important work.  And we will also continue to support them in the fall with our Corn Maze.  Our hope is that someday there will be a cure for cancer,” commented John Lyman, Executive Vice President, Lyman Orchards.

Money raised enables the American Cancer Society to help cancer patients, a population vulnerable to COVID-19, to navigate their cancer journey during a pandemic. The Society offers advice on coping with cancer treatment side effects, answers questions about health insurance and so much more. Donations fund a round-the-clock toll-free helpline, 800-227-2345, and live chat at cancer.org; support research into cancer’s causes, cures and treatments; and promote education to reduce the risk of a diagnosis and to detect cancer as early as possible.
